BACKGROUND: Last August, the DOJ produced a scathing report about the state of law enforcement in Baltimore, finding that BPD routinely violated the First and Fourth Amendments and federal anti-discrimination laws, using enforcement strategies that unlawfully and disproportionately subject African Americans to stops, searches, arrests, excessive force, and retaliation.

In early January, Baltimore City and the DOJ signed a consent decree, committing our city to implementing police reform and on Friday, April 7, the consent decree was finalized. We hope this will mark a turning point in how police operate in our city. Come learn about this process and all ofour police accountability work at this event.
